A corgi’s cozy hike

A Corgi's Cozy Hike is a cute open world sandbox game filled with great landscapes, fun animations, and an opportunity for the player to have an adorable and laid back adventure. Made by Scalisco, a game development company made up of two people based in Seattle, Washington. You may know them from their mobile games Rescue Pets and Rock Miner. In A Corgi’s Cozy Hike you have one main goal to climb all the way to the top of a mountain and get a crown to show that. Climbing the mountain was beautiful, and seeing the island spreading out below you is really amazing to see. The game has no forced line or track you get to choose your own path and go wherever you want on the island in whatever order you want. I did not get to try it as I was playing the demo, but there is a story coming to the game soon.

ACCH centers on collecting “Corgi butt power” which allows you to climb higher on walls making it easier to get up to the peak of the mountain. There are also chests all around full of treats! I finished the game with a little over a thousand bones and I don’t think I even found all of them.

You even have Corgi superpowers where you get to glide through the sky, and butt bounce off of the ground to launch yourself into the air. The gliding makes me feel like i’m playing Spyro again, but as a dog instead of a dragon.

You’re able to take your time to go up the mountain and there’s plenty of places to take a moment to sit and enjoy the beautiful scenery. I spent a fair bit of time in hammocks, on a swing, and in a gondola that brings you around the map just to enjoy the atmosphere. In the snow region there’s a lot of snowmen hanging around that you’re able to talk to (or in my case, set one on fire and melt it by accident. I’m told you will be able to fix the snowmen in the full release).

ACCH also has a large cast of NPC’s that you can interact with, do favors for, and just spend time with. Over in a section of the map there is an opportunity to make your own animal sanctuary as well, which you can fill with lost dogs you find around the map.

Scalisco also has a wonderful mission. To rescue dogs from animal shelters, and they will be donating 10% of all of ACCH’s lifetime net revenue to nonprofits working with dogs. I love when games make a difference and this is such a tangible one.

I loved playing this demo, and if you want to support it (like I did) they have a Kickstarter still active that you’re able to back. They are super close to their goal, and the more they get in the Kickstarter the more platforms they’ll be able to release this delightful game on. I can’t wait for the full release of the game, and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.
